GetGas ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our fuel price comparison platform, available in the Philippines and the United States.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: A free account is required to use GetGas. When you sign in with Google or email, we collect your name, email address, and profile photo. We use this to create and manage your GetGas profile.

Location Data: We use your device's GPS to find gas stations near you. Your location is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers or shared with third parties.

Price Reports: When you submit a fuel price report, we store the station name, fuel type, price, your display name, and the date of submission. This data is shared publicly within the app to help other users.

GP Points and Badges: We track your contribution activity (number of reports, streaks, milestones) to calculate GP Points and award badges. This information is tied to your account and stored in our database.

Favorites: Your saved favorite stations are stored in your account on our servers so they sync across devices.

Market and Region: We detect your approximate country (Philippines or United States) based on your location to show the correct fuel types, brands, and pricing data for your market. This detection is not stored permanently.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your phone number
We do not collect payment or financial information
We do not store your location history
We do not track your browsing activity outside of GetGas
We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking
We do not sell your personal data to anyone

3. How We Use Your Information

To create and manage your account
To display your name and photo on your profile and price reports
To find gas stations near your current location
To calculate and display your GP Points and badges
To sync your favorite stations across devices
To send you notifications about fuel price changes (if enabled)
To improve the accuracy of fuel price data across the platform
To communicate important service updates via email

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Your data may be shared in these limited circumstances:

Price Reports: Your submitted prices and display name are visible to all GetGas users
Service Providers: We use Supabase for data storage, Google for authentication and maps. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by applicable law in the Philippines or the United States, or to protect our rights

5. Third-Party Services

GetGas uses the following third-party services:

Google OAuth: For sign-in authentication. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
Google Maps / Places API: For map display and station discovery. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy
Supabase: For database hosting. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy
Netlify: For website hosting. Subject to Netlify's Privacy Policy

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Google OAuth, and access controls on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

Your account information is retained as long as you have an active account. Price reports are retained indefinitely to maintain historical accuracy. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at krinweb3@gmail.com.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Withdraw consent for data processing
Lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction
Opt out of non-essential communications at any time

9. Children's Privacy

GetGas is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. International Data Transfers

GetGas operates in the Philippines and the United States. Your data may be processed and stored on servers in different countries, including those where Supabase and Google operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or by email.
